Don’t count on putting caviar on the menu for events next year. The Fish and Wildlife Service, which had already banned the importation of beluga caviar from the .phpian Sea, has now extended the ban to caviar from the Black Sea as well, The New York Times reports. Beluga caviar already in the United States may continue to be sold for the next 18 months. “We still have enough beluga to last until the end of the year,” Michel Emery, director of sales in New York for caviar importer Petrossian, told The Times. “Once we run out, that’s it.” (Here are some suggestions for alternatives.)
