With pomp befitting hip-hop royalty, Sean “Diddy” Combs launched his new fragrance—called Unforgivable—with Estée Lauder’s M.A.C. brand at Midtown’s top-secret members-only Core Club. M.A.C.’s John Demsey and the Lauders used their membership privileges—which cost $55,000 up front, and another $12,000 annually—to book the fragrance party at the venue, which opened last fall.
The gorgeous space, which is filled with textured accordion-like walls and woods in all shades, needed little in the way of additional decor, so Bronson van Wyck (fresh off a decidedly different birthday party of his own) brought in only an array of clear Lucite pedestals filled with white votive candles to fill the space. A heated outdoor terrace was covered in crimson and black silk.
The club served hors d’oeuvres that incorporated the fragrance’s ingredients: salt-cured tuna with candied orange zest, mushroom risotto balls, bacon-wrapped dates, and salmon tartare with jam topped with white chocolate on elegant silver platters. And models passed champagne infused with flavors from the fragrance: bergamot, mandarin, grapefruit, lime, Meyer lemon, and sage. M.A.C. special events director Jenné Lombardo oversaw the party, which was attended by 300 guests.
