June 11, 2015: 'Lip Sync Battle' Plans Live Show, ABC Takes 'Muppets' on 6-City Tour, Pizza Hut Box Turns Into Movie Projector

1. ‘LIP SYNC BATTLE’ PLANS LIVE SHOW: Spike is planning a live version of its popular show Lip Sync Battle on July 13 in Central Park as part of New York City’s SummerStage series. New York: “While the SummerStage is a one-off deal right now — ‘a big thank-you to our fans,’ as [executive producer Casey] Patterson puts it — it could very well foreshadow other iterations of LSB, including future live events. ‘We’re very interested in seeing [the format] live and seeing what it would look like in a festival model,’ the producer says. 'This is a great way for us to test the waters for that. I think it’s really going to soar in this environment.'” http://bit.ly/1FaDqFR

2. ABC TAKES ‘MUPPETS’ AND OTHER SHOWS ON 6-CITY TOUR: ABC will provide mini-screenings of some of its new fall shows including The Muppets through a six-city mobile marketing tour that kicks off today at CMA Fest in Nashville. Hollywood Reporter: “All screenings will take place inside the Cinetransformer, a 91-seat mobile cinema that is housed inside a 53-foot double-expandable trailer that is said to replicate every facet of a movie theater experience. … The mobile tour marks the first of what are expected to be many new and forward-looking approaches by the broadcast networks to generate early buzz in an attempt to cut through the clutter of Premiere Week.” http://bit.ly/1f4IKpb

3. PIZZA HUT BOX TURNS INTO MOVIE PROJECTOR: A “blockbuster box” from Pizza Hut turns a normal-looking pizza delivery box into a movie projector. The concept, produced by Ogilvy & Mather, debuted in Hong Kong and is moving to other markets. Designboom: “The design introduces two components with four illustrated graphics. First, is a perforated circle located in the front of the box. Second, is a plastic lens that’s placed in a void on the mini-support that’s put in the center of the pizza. When the goods arrive at home, simply pop out the hole, push in the friction-fit lens, and use your phone to scan a code and queue up a flick from Pizza Hut’s selection.” http://bit.ly/1Q9WYAk
