Bruce Springsteen will be the featured act for the half-time show of Super Bowl XLIII on February 1 in Tampa. Discussion about who would receive the honor to perform in the middle of the most watched TV event of the year, has been going on for more than six months.
The search for this year's half-time performer began "earlier than ever before in our history," according to Charles Coplin, the NFL's vice president of programming.
Springsteen and his E Street Band were chosen in hopes they could mimic the success of recent performers such as Prince, the Rolling Stones, and Tom Petty.
