Since 1989, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Tampa Bay has been holding whimsical events inspired by the arts, and this year's 19th annual Art of Helping Children gala was no different.
Corina Wian-Literski, event designer for the A La Carte Event Pavilion, where the gala was held, suspended large groups of gold hoops above the space's dance floor and dining area, and draped tables in gold linens from Connie Duglin Specialty Linens. Acrobats from Dance & Circus Arts of Tampa Bay employed similar-though steadier-gold hoops to perform midair stunts throughout the night.
To complement the primarily golden space, Wian-Literski hung iridescent blue and green fabric from the ceiling accentuated by theatrical lighting from AVSS Inc. Centerpieces were simple peacock feather arrangements, designed to keep the nearly 250 guests focused on the entertainment while seated.
Adding a unique element to the traditional silent auction, attendees bid on works of art created by the children involved with Big Brothers Big Sisters. The evening wrapped up with a performance by the Kam Showers Band, an R&B-and-funk group, who performed covers of popular hits as well as originals.
