What is furry, wild, and decked out in animal print? Why, the attendees of the Big Cat Rescue of Tampa Bay's annual Fur Ball on Friday night, of course. Partygoers resembled fanciful felines with their head to toe cat-inspired ensembles. Guests were even given the unlikely opportunity to be in black-tie attire and have their faces painted like that of their favorite big cat.
Each year the event's coordinators look to the talents of the A La Carte Event Pavilion to transform the event space into an African retreat complete with every known animal print. Tiger stripes and leopard spots were everywhere, including on the large paper lanterns hung above the dining area. A large, stage backdrop of an African savanna enhanced the wildlife ambience.
The second annual King of Feast confection competition-where designs are inspired by big cats and the year's theme-was also a huge success, with three cakes designed by Cakes Plus, A Piece of Cake, and Cakes on the Dot, the 2007 winner. The confections were viewed, sampled, and voted on by attendees.
While DeLeon Entertainment performed throughout the evening, attendees were invited to join the entertainment by participating in a drum circle led by Jana Broder of Drum Magic.
