Fantasy Surf, which opened October 22 in Kissimmee, offers a nontraditional venue for corporate events and teambuilding activities. The centerpiece of the 14,000-square-foot facility is the FlowRider, a never-ending 32- by 49-foot indoor wave that can accommodate 25 riders per hour. The remainder of the venue includes a gift shop, locker rooms, restaurant, and large lobby.
The lobby spans almost the entire the width of the venue and has floor-to-ceiling windows on one side. The 1,100-square-foot tiled area has 10 high-top tables that give guests a view of the surfing action. To the right of the lobby is the venue’s cafe with seating for 30. The kitchen serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner with items such as sandwiches, salads, and pizzas.
The FlowRider is powered by two jet engines that each pump 15,000 gallons of water per minute up the incline of the wave, creating a three-inch sheet of water. The facility provides specially designed "flowboards" in two styles—one for body boarding and one for stand-up use. Instructors are available to assist new riders. The FlowRider has a cushioned, trampoline base, and padded walls so even wipeouts are safe.
Fantasy Surf is available for buyout and can accommodate 150 people for a reception or 100 seated. The front parking lot has room for a 15- by 30-foot tent for groups that want some outdoor space. For private events, caterers are welcome and liquor is allowed.
