* INCOMING *

1. MTV'S ONLINE AWARDS: Just six months after the first O Music Awards, MTV Music Group announced a second iteration for October 31.

MTV digital VP Shannon Connolly: "The idea for this show really came out of this incredible moment that we were seeing in the convergence of music and technology, and kind of super fandom…The way that people were sharing and conversing and experiencing music on new platforms, [we] felt like it was a great time to spotlight some of the awesome things happening—and to also challenge ourselves to kind of reinvent the award show model."

The Hollywood Reporter: "While the first show lived on the web only (it was the group's second-largest live stream audience ever, behind the 2009 VMAs), they have opted to incorporate television airtime this time around, though no official details regarding the design have been confirmed."

Sponsors Dove, Trojan, and L'Oreal will be integrated into the show and will sponsor categories.

2. OBAMA'S KINDA HIGH-TECH TOWN HALL: The president appeared at a tech industry meeting hosted by LinkedIn Monday. Kara Swisher of All Things D lived-blogged it—or tried to: "Arriving at Silicon Valley’s Computer History Museum, in the heart of the tech industry, with the leader of the free world talking jobs and digital, you might expect fantastic wireless access. You might, but not so much if you are a 'local' reporter and can’t jack into the extra-secret-special wireless link the national White House press corps apparently has reserved for itself. (They also get a lovely noshing buffet, whilst we tech reporters have been instructed not to touch the pineapple and scones or else!)"

Later, President Obama's night of fund-raisers in West Hollywood took in about $2 million—and the president took some heckling, too. Reuters:

4. SOCIAL SEC SPOTTING: At the Washington National Symphony's ball Sunday at the Kennedy Center, WWD spotted White House Social Secretary Jeremy Bernard, the first man to hold the job, "looked dashing in a luminous black tuxedo with a spiffy four-point folded white handkerchief peeking out of his breast pocket. When asked the magic question—who designed his suit—he beamed with delight. 'Valentino,' he said. 'Thank you for asking. No one ever asks me.'”

Also in WWD today: "Moncler hosted a festive dinner [Sunday night, for a Bruce Weber film] in the columned courtyard of the Teatro Litta decorated with balloons and enough popcorn, chips, candies and marshmallows to feed an entire school."
