Fashion Parties Mix Drinking and Ebay Bidding

Last week, two fashion events merged benefit auctions on eBay with cocktail parties. On Wednesday, Council of Fashion Designers of America board member Marc Ecko hosted a party at his Flatiron showroom to auction designer iPod cases to benefit Fashion Targets Breast Cancer; guests bid against eBay buyers during a live auction. Spectators munched on hors d'oeuvres from Jason's Catering, and sipped Floot, a new sparkling wine in a can (kind of like the Sofia Mini).

And on Thursday, Beyoncé hosted a cocktail party and auction at the Museum of Television and Radio to benefit VH1's Save the Music foundation. Kevin Krier styled an exhibit of some of her stage costumes—made by the House of Dereon, the singer and her designer mom's clothing line—up for auction. (Guests bid against nonattending buyers using computers.) Avi Adler creative director David Stark created a massive floral arrangement out of 3,000 red roses in the shape of the House of Dereon's swirly-shaped logo. Crown Royal sponsored the bar, and Gracious Thyme served hors d'oeuvres.
