1. BET EXPERIENCE DEBUTS THIS WEEKEND: The network's new festival, with headliner Beyoncé, kicks off today and expects to draw as many as 80,000 fans to L.A. Live and will include activations from sponsors including Procter & Gamble, Coca-Cola, and Grey Goose. New York Times: “It’s definitely a sign that the market is strong,” said said Debra L. Lee, the chief executive and chairman of BET Networks. “I think it is a good sign that the music industry is strong and that our viewers and our consumers want to be part of a live event." http://nyti.ms/19BMDgN
2. CORPORATE SCAVENGER HUNT COSTS $270,000: Investment bank Goldman Sachs planned an all-night scavenger hunt in New York for employees called "Midnight Madness"—at a cost of $270,000. New York magazine: "Among the puzzles the Goldmanites had to solve: changing the color of the lights on top of the One Bryant Park building [and] arranging the wires on a custom circuit board to reveal a pattern showing the location of the next clue. … The scavenger hunt was good news for Good Shepherd Services, a charity for at-risk youth that raised $1.4 million from the event." http://nym.ag/16E6Jlb
3. DOM PERIGNON OFFERS JEFF KOONS SCULPTURE WITH CHAMPAGNE: The champagne brand and artist known for his balloon-like sculptures have a new package on offer for collectors or imbibers: Koons' “Balloon Venus” piece sold along with a vintage 2003 rosé. Women's Wear Daily: "The Champagne and sculpture package, limited to an edition of a few hundred, will sell at retail for about $20,000. It is a staggering price tag to be sure, and one that slingshots past prior Dom Pérignon artist collaborations that have include Andy Warhol and David Lynch. (The winery will also offer two, presumably less costly, Koons gift boxes.) But in Koons’ superstrata of the art market, a place populated largely by billionaires and those well on their way there, it qualifies as a value play." http://wwd.us/12qlqbg
