This Week: Auto Show and Easter Bonnets

Tonight, the East Side House Settlement benefits from the gala preview for the New York International Automobile Show at the Javits Center. The huge auto fair opens to the public on Friday and continues through April 3. (We interviewed show director Candida Romanelli back in 2003.) Also today, the New Directors/New Films festival shows off the work of up-and-coming filmmakers at Lincoln Center’s Walter Reade Theater, Alice Tully Hall, and the Museum of Modern Art. Tomorrow, Volvo celebrates its Volvo for Life awards at Times Square Studios, hosted by Jim Belushi, and with a performance by the Black Crowes. At the Waldorf=Astoria, Catalyst will honor Georgia-Pacific Corporation and Sidley Austin Brown & Wood LLP for the companies’ record of promoting women’s leadership in the workplace. Good Friday follows, and on Sunday the Easter parade will make its way up Fifth Avenue.

On Monday, the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation will dole out its media awards at the Marriott Marquis. Foodies will flock to Skylight for Food & Wine magazine’s Best New Chefs party on Tuesday.
