Getting the Royale Treatment

It seems like we’ve been hearing about Royale for years, but it finally opened in January, just a few blocks from MacArthur Park in the former Wilshire Royale Hotel (now an apartment building). Embracing its Art Deco roots, the main room is topped by a high, burgundy ceiling supported by white tiled columns. A swanky lounge features a black slate bar and a giant circular booth that seats 30. There’s also an upstairs lounge with billiards and views of the patio below. Chef Eric Ernest, known for his food at BOA and Citrine, created a modern American menu with French aesthetics.
