A design rendering shows the "Asian underground" theme.
Can’t wait for our post-Grammys coverage? We’ve got all the details about the Recording Academy’s official after-party at the Los Angeles Convention Center. About 5,500 guests have been invited to Sunday’s party—produced again this year by Along Came Mary, working with the academy’s Branden Chapman—which will feature performances by Chaka Khan and Kool & the Gang. (The Recording Academy has worked with Along Came Mary on the Grammys celebration eight times, as well as on three Latin Grammys post-parties.)
The team will transform the cavernous convention space into a dramatic party venue, keeping to an “Asian underground” theme complete with a Zen garden, a laser light show, and aerial performers. Click here for a peek at the rendering of the event space.
Hundreds of servers will staff food stations offering Asian, Moroccan, Cuban, Spanish, and Indian cuisines. Desserts will include Asian apple pear cobbler, coconut cake bites, ginger cheesecake, and fortune cookies, natch. Anheuser-Busch, Belvedere, Codorniu Cava Champagne, Forest Glen Wines, Patrón, and Pyrat Rum will supply the spirits.
A swag lounge set up by Hilton and gifting company Distinctive Assets will offer prizes from the likes of Crabtree & Evelyn, JVC, Logitech, Nespresso, Netflix, and Verizon. And at the end of the night, local nonprofit food distribution service Angel Harvest will deliver any unserved food to area soup kitchens, food pantries, and shelters in Los Angeles. We’ll have more coverage of the big night next week.
