The theme of the Emmys Governors Ball in September was "A Romantic Rhapsody in Red" and saw the Los Angeles Convention Center's West Hall designed to look like the inside of a red rose. Red rose petals were suspended in the sculpted ice bars, sponsored by Grey Goose.

Charity:Ball

To encourage attendees to make on-site donations at its December Charity:Ball in New York, nonprofit Charity:Water sold yellow helium-filled balloons for $5 each. Guests could release their brightly colored inflatables into a 28-foot-tall, 20-foot-wide net rigged to the ceiling of the 69th Regiment Armory. As the inflatable orbs filled the structure, it started to resemble a giant yellow Jerry can, Charity:Water's signature symbol.

Balloon Artistry

Chicago-based balloon artist Willy Chyr, who has a B.A. in physics and economics from the University of Chicago, creates custom installations and was recently comÂmissioned to design a limited edition label for Beck’s beer. Chyr, who first learned to twist balÂloons when he joined the Le Vorris & Vox Circus during college, has designed large decor pieces using as many as 800 balloons for events like conferences and launch parties.
