Mixing California seals with evening wear-attired guests doesn't seem natural, but that's what guests got at the Wildlife Conservation Society's Junior Committee gala at the Central Park Zoo. The event was styled like a 1940's supper club and paid homage to the days when New York's young swingers enjoyed a summer evening garden party—before the heyday of the Hamptons.
Musters & Company decorated the open space with simple and delicate decor. Tables were draped with silver and blue sequined tablecloths, which shimmered in soft lighting, and were topped with mirrored plates and glass bowls filled with floating tea lights, and delicate silver candle stands surrounded by quartz rocks and flower petals. A clear tent complete with a disco ball let guests circulate and dance to music from Dina Regine for Tom Kaufman Productions.
Match Catering and Eventstyles created an old-school supper club menu modeled after food served by restaurants Delmonico's and El Morocco during the 1940s, including steak in whiskey sauce and Moroccan grilled chicken. And a retro Tao station—as in Zen, not the restaurant—offered sushi.
The event raised more than $150,000 and gave guests key chains donated by CK Bradley.
