It was no surprise that black was the color of choice at Donna Karan's launch party for her new scent. It's called Black Cashmere, after all, and Karan has used basic black in her clothes for years. For the party, the designer's flagship store was cleared of its first-floor merchandise and filled with all-black decor to create a nightclub atmosphere. Bonetti/Kozerski Studio covered black couches, beds and banquettes with faux black cashmere and created large rectangular tables filled with white sea salt and black river rocks—the inspiration for the fragrance's bottle design. Black throw pillows decorated the stairs where celeb guests Anjelica Huston, Brooke Shields and Angie Harmon lounged.
Olivier Cheng Catering and Events served caviar from a long, rectangular ice sculpture underneath a wall lit with moving blue and white lights by JKLD to look like trickling water. Hors d'oeuvres of pear crackers with Cabrales cheese and spiced almond and lamb loin with romesco sauce were served on square black trays sprinkled with sea salt and black river rocks.
The party also served as the launch party for the In Concert series, a nationwide tour sponsored by Vanity Fair and Donna Karan that benefits the Step Up Women's Network.
