The joint was jumping when the Metro Toronto Convention Centre hosted the 13th annual Bell Mobility Celebrity Gala, dubbed the Mirror Ball, to take attendees back to the days of disco.
Some 2,500 guests had a good time for a good cause as this year's annual charity event raised money for the Hospital for Sick Children.
Event organizer Solutions with Impact designed the dynamite decor and provided the entertainment. Guests made their entrance into the "Shag Carpet" reception to begin their trek back to the 1970's with music from the era spun by a DJ from Mandell Entertainment, which also took care of the evening's sound, lighting, and staging.
The "Playboy Club" was the setting for an out-of-sight dinner provided by the convention centre and Senses Catering. The Aragon Group used mirrored disco balls as centrepieces for tables covered with funky linens. Dinner was followed by a celebrity fashion show before attendees boogied the night away to music by stars of yesterday and today, including J.T. Taylor (formerly of Kool & the Gang), Amy Sky, Janelle, Ray Robinson, and Liberty Silver. "Studio 54" was the setting for a performance by the group Starting from Scratch.
Celebrities included Toronto Maple Leaf coach Pat Quinn, star player Alexander Mogilny, hockey great Mario Lemieux, WWE's Trish Stratus, actress Polly Shannon, Oscar winner Louis Gossett Jr., Juno winner Haydain 'Jacksoul' Neale, and former MuchMusic host Erica Ehm.
