To raise funds for the Jason Taylor Learning Center at Holtz Children's Hospital, the Jackson Metropolitans, a leadership support group of the Jackson Memorial Foundation, transformed a typical fashion fete into a gala called the "Garden of Good and Evil." Desire permeated the evening's festivities, thanks to sponsors La Perla and the Collection, whose sleek, seductive automobiles dotted the grounds of Ice
Palace Film Studios.
Martha Lagarde, events and underwriting director of the Jackson Metropolitans, hired Christy Cal of event planning and public relations firm the Agency to plan the event. Cal divided Ice Palace's interior into two distinct areas. The first was a sensual space where hors d'oeuvres and Grey Goose vodka cocktails were served amid sheer gold cascading drapes decked with ivy, antique armoires stacked with flickering white pillar candles, and scattered apples. Guests dipped marshmallows, strawberries, and pound cake into the chocolate that poured continuously from a fountain.
The second area housed sleek green banquettes, which served as seating for the 160 guests who attended the sit-down dinner catered by Le Basque Catering. Attendees feasted as they watched models parade down a long catwalk wearing La Perla lingerie and womens' fashions. The fashion show was also shown on large video screens throughout the room.
The theme was incorporated into every.phpect of the evening—from the caterwaiters dressed in black uniforms adorned with angel wings or devil horns to actors dressed as Adam and Eve, as well as a dominatrix couple clad in black leather, complete with whips and chains.
