Coty's L.A.M.B Launch a Colourful Affair

The fragrance maker unveiled singer Gwen Stefani's new scent with Stefani look-a-like models, bold decor, and a black, white, gold, and turquoise colour palette.

Aliki Mahshy, Coty Canada’s director of public relations and education, tapped Overcat Communications and Nicholas Pinney Designs to help with the media launch of the new Coty fragrance L.A.M.B. Coty makes the perfume on behalf of singer Gwen Stefani, whose L.A.M.B. product line also includes handbags, shoes, and watches. The event took place high up on the 51st floor of the Manulife Centre in Panorama restaurant, with brilliant sunlight pouring in the windows.

Taking his cue from the L.A.M.B. Web site, designer Nicholas Pinney used a black, white, gold, and turquoise colour palette. The event featured a number of bold decor elements, including custom-made animal print throws on white-and-black leather sofas and chairs, accented by small black-and-white striped pillows. The fragrance tagline “I want you all over me” was embroidered in gold on the pillows. The tagline also appeared on the gold-coloured prints that covered the tops of metal-frame coffee tables. A turquoise carpet ran through the centre of the room, with product displays on square black cocktail tables at either end. Models from Elmer Olsen and Elite Canada wore high heels, black shorts, and black-and-white striped tank tops. Since Stafani was the focus of the event, they also wore Stafani-esque platinum blond wigs, white framed sunglasses, and of course, red lipstick.

Eatertainment served lunch snacks, including a bean salad and square toasts topped with  slices of turkey breast and crisscrossed stalks of asparagus. As they departed the event, attendees received gift bags containing a sample of the new perfume and a coin purse from Stefani’s line.
