As guests ascended the steps of the Hotel Victor on December 31, they passed under a canopy of satin draping and into a Moroccan world. The lobby had been completely converted into a lavish paradise by Craig Goldstein of the Zanadu Group, with assistance from Church Street Concepts, complete with an acrobat, belly dancers, tall palm trees, exotic flowers, jewel-toned lighting, and even a camel statue. And that was just the beginning.
The main stairs up to the pool and roof deck, where the main party took place, were lavishly decorated with orchids and other exotic flowers. Around the pool, Goldstein pushed deck chairs together to create large lounge areas, draped them with satin linens of gold, green, orange, pink, and purple, before adding big satin pillows for the New Year's Eve partygoers to relax upon. In addition, sun umbrellas strategically placed over the grouped chairs were covered with sheer draping, adding to the cabana-esque effect of the arrangements.Throughout the evening, performers of all kinds entertained guests, including belly dancers, fire-eaters, sword swallowers, contortionists, and musicians, courtesy of the Zanadu Group and Dorene Collier's Event Show Productions. The evening's headlining band, the Honey Brothers (including Entourage star Adrian Grenier), ushered in the New Year onstage as guests partied on the dance floor. Additionally, a tarot card reader and a hookah bar could be found in a cabana area.
