A new event space called Private Residence opened on the second floor of the building housing South Beach restaurant Barton G. The venue is the former home of its owner, local entrepreneur Debbie Ohanian, and has been redesigned to accommodate private parties.
The 2,000-square-foot apartment is comprised of four separate spaces that flow easily from one to another to host 10 to 50 in each or about 110 throughout the venue.
At the top of the stairs from the street into the building, the Library can seat 10 on a retro lime green sofa and velvet club chairs. The room is adorned with a round crystal vintage chandelier, leopard print curtains, and a vintage bookcase.
On the opposite side of the staircase, the 300-square-foot Velvet Underground Lounge is decorated with leopard print curtains, a large ottoman in the same fabric, a taupe sectional sofa, and dim lighting to create a Mad Men-style ambiance. The room can accommodate 20 people.
Just past the lounge, the 450-square-foot Cocktail Bar has a built-in DJ booth and dance floor outfitted with laser lights. The L-shape of the room can accommodate dinner for 40 at a single table.
The fourth space is a 600-square-foot terrace overlooking the tops of the palm trees. Cushioned wooden benches accented with lime green pillows and white metal deck chairs provide seating. The terrace can accommodate about 40 for receptions.
Open as an event space since November, the venue also has 14 ottomans for additional seating in any of the rooms. Catering is available from Barton G.; King Domino is the in-house DJ.
