Victor Restaurant and Bar in Hôtel Le Germain has reopened and been redesigned as a casual, social space available for full rentals, with room for 100 for sit-down events and 150 for cocktail receptions. Shining steel surfaces paired with leather and blond woods lend an Art Deco feel.
Victor’s zinc bar is now the restaurant’s main focal point, but has been moved to face a window wall overlooking Mercer Street. What was once the bar area is now a semiprivate space with room for 40 sitting or 60 standing guests. Handblown pendant lighting fixtures and a new peacock window drive home the Deco aesthetic.
Former Victor general manager Michael Sullivan and well-known chef David Chrystian are the new owners behind the restaurant’s renewal. Chrystian has created an "ethnicity-inspired" menu, which changes weekly, and he continues to name items for in neighborhoods known best for their diverse populations. His dishes include the Danforth, a moussaka with pita, and a local-vegetable risotto called College Street.
