When it's a concert for a band called Fun, you might expect the decor to be, well, fun. To that end, AOL and T-Mobile’s summer-kickoff concert at the House of Blues on June 4 got a whimsical, neon look from event producer and designer Jes Gordon Proper Fun. The event celebrated the culmination of Signature Sounds, an original video series and traveling music program meant to highlight the culture of American music destinations.
Guests for the program's closing concert with the indie pop band entered the venue through a neon ribbon entryway to find DJ Jesse Molloy on the turntables. Inside, decor included a life-size and interactive Lite-Brite-style wall; glowing orbs suspended from the ceiling and branded with the sponsors' logos; an interactive T-Mobile walkway accented with the company's signature magenta hue; and a black-lit V.I.P. floor. LED-glow items, fiber-optic table components, and hanging ribbons added more neon accents around the venue, and a private, neon-colored lounge served as a seating area for V.I.P. guests.
Outside, a food truck decorated with the Signature Sounds brand imagery served chicken, beef, and chickpea sliders. Guests could pose for a photo op at a station complete with rock-star-inspired props.
