Instead of focusing on its past, the Scottish whiskey company Ardbeg opted for a futuristic-theme event to celebrate its 200th anniversary. This year’s Ardbeg Day, an annual promotional event held in several cities, came to Miami on May 31.
Held at the Vagabond Hotel, which has a Jetsons-like futuristic vibe, the affair featured robotic dogs that competed in races, robot toys that guests were encouraged to play with, and a local artist who painted a figure dubbed “Ardie the Robot” in homage to the brand.
“Ardbeg is known as being a rather quirky brand. They love doing things in their own Ardbeggian way,” said Julia C. Brown, president and founder of Brown & Company PR, which produced the event. “So it was appropriate when, on their epic 200 year anniversary, they decided to celebrate 200 years in the future—2215—rather than looking to the past.”
About 190 guests game through the event, which had a local retail partner, Fine Spirits Wine & Liquors, as well as partnerships with the British General Consulate, BritWeek, and the Scotch Malt Whisky Society of America.
