Event coordinator Kathryn Henknhaf of Mount Sinai Hospital welcomed more than 600 guests to the hospital's recent annual gala fund-raiser, held at Roy Thomson Hall.
The enthusiastic supporters gathered for an evening of fine dining by kosher caterer Rhonda Litwack Fine Foods (the kosher meal was at the request of the hospital, which is strictly kosher). The meal included a first course sampler with basil-scented gazpacho, shredded barbecued salmon on a corn cake with vegetarian caviar, and a main course of pomegranate-glazed chicken breast with field mushroom stuffing and a garnish of crispy onions. Alternately, guests could try molasses marinated skewers of beef with dried cherry and herb risotto with a sugar snap pea and roasted red and yellow cherry tomato toss.
A brief reception preceded the dinner, including martini bars and champagne and wine service that were set up in the venue foyer decorated with new venue sponsors Mercedes-Benz Smart cars and lush arrangements of spring florals from Church Street Flowers. The dining area was warmed by a palette of earth tones. Textured linen in moss green, from Around the Table, was accented with chocolate wooden chiavari chairs capped with cream-coloured padded seats. Soaring forest-green centerpieces by Church Street Flowers trailed foliage over gleaming silver stands.
A much-anticipated performance by comedian Jerry Seinfeld capped the meal with a final comedic toast that delighted the audience.
