New Restaurant for Columbus Circle

Not everyone is splurging on expensive dinners these days, but chef Masa Takayama of Ginza Sushiko in Beverly Hills must be optimistic. He's opening a new restaurant in AOL Time Warner's Columbus Circle building in 2003, according to New York magazine. Takayama plans to charge "maybe $400 to $500 per person at dinner—without alcohol" and rationalizes the expense by eschewing menus for personally chatting with "diners about their preferences before whipping up a 25-course feast, featuring such delicacies as roasted sea urchin with snow crab, and poached foie gras with tosazu vinaigrette." Takayama's new restaurant will join Thomas Keller's French Laundry New York and Jean-Georges Vongerichten's Prime steakhouse on the the fourth floor of the complex.
