Time Out's Restaurant Winners

At Time Out New York's cocktail reception to announce its Critics' Picks and Readers' Choices dining awards last Monday at the TriBeCa Rooftop, local favorites won out over newcomer restaurants. Mario Batali and the Bastianich Restaurant Group cleaned up, with awards for Babbo for upscale Italian and Lupa for mid-range Italian; Batali himself won the best chef award (a nice follow-up to winning the James Beard award for best chef New York earlier in the month). Danny Meyer's Union Square Restaurant Group also won big, with awards for Gramercy Tavern for best dessert and service, and Tabla for best Indian. The rest of the Readers' Choice winners:

  • Burger: Corner Bistro

  • Deli: Katz's Delicatessen

  • Vegetarian: Angelica's Kitchen

  • Steakhouse: Peter Luger Steak House

  • Seafood: Le Bernardin

  • Pizza: John's Pizzeria

  • New Cheap Eat: aKa Cafe

  • Asian-inflected: TanDa

  • New restaurant: Blue Fin

  • Pan-Latino: Patria
