A new property, the Wit Hotel, is slated to open in downtown Chicago's theater district in May 2009. The 27-story luxury boutique hotel will accommodate private events in a variety of high-tech rooms. The Director's Cut Theater will feature digital projection, recording-studio sound fidelity, and 3-D capabilities, along with seating in reclining chairs to which hotel waitstaff can deliver seat-side drinks and snacks. The Ultimate Sky Box will cater to viewing parties for major pay-per-view sporting events with stadium-style seating for 50.
According to yesterday's Dish (Chicago magazine's food-focused weekly newsletter), Atlanta-based Concentrics Restaurants plans to open no less than three restaurants within the hotel. On the docket: a "seasonally driven" Italian restaurant with seating for 130 and a 5,000-bottle wine vault, a contemprorary American restaurant wih a "gastropub feel" and seating for 110, and a rooftop lounge with a resident mixologist, a menu of small plates, and a patio furbished with an outdoor fire pit.
Perks for business travelers staying at the hotel will inlcude a DeskJack pack with plug-in for laptops and DVD players and free wireless; there will also be an onsite spa and freshly baked cookies at check in.
