1. SUNDANCE COMING EAST?: Robert Redford's independent film festival may move to New York. New York Post: "We hear organizers are discussing plans with top Brooklyn real estate developers—as well as film industry insiders, politicos, and retailers—to launch a Sundance initiative that would take place in DUMBO and could rival Robert De Niro and Jane Rosenthal’s annual Tribeca Film Festival." http://bit.ly/USKIxv

2. INAUGURATION PASTOR DROPS OUT: A minister set to deliver the benediction at President Obama's inauguration pulled out of the ceremony following an outcry over his anti-gay comments from the 1990s. The Rev. Louie Giglio said he did not want to be a distraction. New York Times: "Officials at Mr. Obama’s Presidential Inaugural Committee, which operates separately from the White House, announced the decision—less than 24 hours after news of Mr. Giglio’s sermon surfaced—and took responsibility for failing to properly vet him." http://nyti.ms/Smo3ss

As an incentive to participate in the National Day of Service, the official Presidential Inauguration Committee is sponsoring a drawing to give away a trip to Washington for the inauguration, flight and hotel covered. The National Day of Service is intended to honor Martin Luther King Jr. with community projects across the nation. Entry page: http://bit.ly/U5EO8w

3. OSCAR PROMOS: New promotions for this year's Academy Awards featuring host Seth MacFarlane feature the comedian's irreverent humor. The Hollywood Reporter: "If there’s a theme for these new promos—which will appear on ABC beginning Thursday—it’s that the Family Guy creator will be a new type of host for the established awards event." http://bit.ly/URxxwY

The first-time Oscar host is already being reviewed based on his performance at Thursday's nomination announcements, and it's not pretty. "David Letterman, you can probably stop making jokes about how much the movie industry disliked your host gig; a new winner in that category may reveal itself on Oscar night." Entertainment Weekly: http://bit.ly/10lkO89

4. MEETING TECHNOLOGY: M.P.I. has released a white paper about meetings technology. M.P.I.: "The Future of Meetings research uncovers some of the technologies that researchers at Leeds Metropolitan University identified as key shapers of the meetings industry from what is available in the present: Internet, mobile apps, and social media to much further ahead: a world of targeted audio, augmented reality, and robotics." M.P.I. members can access the paper at: www.MPIweb.org/FOM
