July 22, 2013: See Comic-Con's Zombies, Delta Launches Chef Competition, NBC's 'Smash' May Become Benefit Concert

1. CHEFS COMPETE IN DELTA'S COOKING CONTEST: Food on airplanes has long been a punch line—that is, when airlines still served food once upon a time. Now Delta has enlisted four notable chefs for a competition to join its culinary team. The Cabin Pressure Cook-Off contest, held with Food & Wine magazine, will be filmed and will air on social media channels and the Web. New York Times: "The cook-off is not the first collaboration between Food & Wine and Delta. In addition to buying advertising space in Food & Wine for the last decade, Delta has sponsored the magazine’s Food & Wine Classic annual food festival in Aspen, Colo., several times since 2007. Delta also has sponsored Food & Wine’s best new chefs program—celebrating its 25th anniversary this year—and held events for its top customers catered by some of these chefs. Delta also is running a four-page spread in the July issue of Food & Wine, which covers the 2013 best new chefs." http://nyti.ms/119fGCA

2. NBC'S 'SMASH' MAY LIVE ON IN CHARITY CONCERT: The songs of Smash, the cancelled NBC series about a new Broadway show, may be revived in a benefit concert. Hollywood Reporter: "A concert could feature the cast and additional performers from Broadway. That would be a wonderful way for the show to live on," said Marc Shaiman, whose original song is nominated for an Emmy. http://bit.ly/13x5SmP
