November 12, 2013: How Benefits Can Cater to Millennials, Tailgating Gets Its Own Apps, Business Travelers Name Favorite Airports

1. HOW BENEFITS CAN CATER TO MILLENNIALS: As the Millennial generation starts to become more active in charitable giving, benefit planners should consider adapting events to suit their values. Think Splendid blog: “Growing up in an era where everyone got a trophy and everyone was equal—equally V.I.P.—millennials expect to be treated as V.I.P.s, regardless of donation amounts. Only treating donors who give major dollars as V.I.P. will mean that the Millennials giving what they can now will find another organization where they feel respected. This may not seem like a big deal now, but the organizations who neglect this part of their donor base will be seriously hurting in ten years." http://bit.ly/HUrP7C

2. TAILGATING GETS ITS OWN APPS: With sports tailgaters spending more than $20 billion on food, beverages, and gear, it’s no wonder the digital age is paying attention to these fans with apps that help plan their events. New York Times: “I call it the last great American neighborhood,” said Joe Cahn, who operates a Web site, tailgating.com, that offers recipes and tips to sports fans. “Tailgating inspires a real sense of community.” http://nyti.ms/17nQr4N

3. BUSINESS TRAVELERS NAME FAVORITE AIRPORTS: Which airports do frequent business travelers like the best? A new survey named Dallas/Fort Worth airport and Amsterdam's Schiphol airport as the top domestic and foreign airports, respectively. USA Today: “Frequent business travelers have favorite and least-favorite airports for many reasons, including ease of access, available services, security-screening efficiency and frequency of flight delays.” http://usat.ly/1ceYnCS
