BlackSalt Fish Market and Restaurant, part of Jeff and Barbara Black’s Black Restaurant Group, added a 32-seat tasting room to the property in October. The result of a six-month expansion, the tasting room is available for private events and features a stretch fireplace, exposed brick, and a periwinkle, chocolate, and ecru color scheme, with seating at the six-seat round table in the center of the room or at the floor-to-ceiling, dark wood banquette. A new glass-and-steel refrigerated walk-through wine room connects BlackSalt’s dining room to the tasting room, or guests can enter through the new V Street entrance. (Valet parking is available.)In the Palisades neighborhood of Northwest D.C., Blacksalt Fish Market opened in December 2004 and is a sustainable seafood restaurant, serving dishes like Maine lobster agnolotti and Mediterranean bronzino.
Tasting room parties must order chef de cuisine Danny Wells’s five-course tasting menu ($75), which varies based on the day’s catches. Each meal concludes with a take-home bag of chocolate oyster-shell confections from pastry chef Susan Wallace.
