Hot Pot Buffet, a new D.I.Y. restaurant, opened in late April in Chinatown, around the corner from the area's famous gates. Ideal for interactive lunches, entertaining summer associates, or teambuilding sessions, Hot Pot Buffet is available for groups and private dining.
The 6,000-square-foot bilevel venue's decor is simple, with standard wooden tables and chairs, bare walls, and stained glass and brass table dividers.
For events, the upper-level of the no-frills dining space is about 2,000 square feet and can accommodate 120 at tables seating two, four, and six. With high ceilings and wraparound windows, the second story also offers bird's-eye views of the gates.
The menu's vast selection of meats, seafood, noodles, and vegetables are served in side dishes and added into large aluminum pots filled with two chicken broths that range from herbal to spicy. Guests do the cooking on hotplates built into the table. Hot Pot Buffet does not serve alcohol.
