Dogs of all breeds and their owners attended a puppy-focused soiree of food, fashion, and fun to celebrate the launch of BocaDog Magazine, which made its official debut at Hollywood's tiny-but-chic women's clothing store Bar Boutique.
Publisher Jan Bond and managing editor Penny Paine, along with boutique owner Jill Ginsberg and Dana Rhoden of the Dana Agency, got the word out to local dog owners, who packed the 1,000-square-foot shop. A single waiter carefully wove his way through the crowd with a variety of hors d'oeuvres, including duck wontons and tomato and mozzarella skewers, donated by Deerfield Beach-based caterer Oceans 234. Sweets (for humans only) created by It's in the Pot Creative Entertaining Solutions were set around the store and included mini white, milk, and dark chocolate dog bones served in red plastic dog bowls; round, hand-dipped chocolate lollipops adorned with hand-painted paws; fire hydrant-shaped lollipops; and an all-chocolate ark with dogs as its passengers.
A brief fashion show parted the crowds. Shih Tzus from Shih Tzu Rescue and their human companions walked the store's length, the dogs in fashions by Barkley's Canine, the humans wearing clothes from Bar Boutique. And when the party was over, guests left with gift bags stuffed with dog treats from Three Dog Bakery and Barkley's Canine, a doggie bandana, a key chain, human treats, and more.
