A New Restaurant in an Old Vault

Housed in the 19th-century landmark space that was once the U.S. Realty Bank Vault, Trinity Place opened in the financial district in June and serves new American fare from Donal Crosbie (whose résumé includes stints at Danube and Spago). Brian McDonald of the firm Design Farm is responsible for the restaurant’s interior, keeping the venue’s two 35-ton vault doors and an original chandelier, and adding brown leather banquette seating, a 40-foot-long mahogany bar, red silk lampshades, and a wine cooler constructed in what was once an elevator shaft. The entire 4,000-square-foot space seats 250 and can be booked for private events. —Anna Sekula
