Hank's Oyster Bar is expanding its Dupont eatery with the opening of a new lounge Wednesday. The renamed Hank's Oyster Bar and Lounge now has 3,800 square feet of dining and entertaining space, including the new lounge, bar, and private room.
The restaurant's main entrance has shifted to the door of the new 1,800-square-foot addition, which welcomes guests with a tiled mural of the eatery's name above the entryway. The space has 17-foot vaulted ceilings and a marble bar with seating for eight. A counter on the opposite wall has an additional eight seats.
At the far end of the bar, the Den lounge is decorated in shades of slate gray, with dim lighting and banquet and ottoman seating for 16 to 20. A separate bar snacks menu is available in these areas until 2 a.m. during the week and 3 a.m. on Friday and Saturday.
A staircase to the right of the Den leads to the second floor charcuterie, named the Charc Room, where guests can watch chefs prepare the meats and cheese served in the new addition. The second floor is also home to the new private dining Yacht Room, which seats 30. These two spaces can be combined to host 50 for dinner or as many as 80 for a reception. Group menus and the full dining menu from Hank's are available for private events.
The expanded venue now has twice as much patio space out front, with seating for 40 at wooden tables with black mesh chairs. The restaurant's dining room can accommodate 65, plus four seats at a small, full-service bar.
