This week's roundup includes Smirnoff Seltzer and Funboy's pool float launch party in Los Angeles; SAP's high-tech basketball court at Sapphire Now in Orlando; Budweiser lottery machines in New York to celebrate the N.B.A. Draft Lottery; and customized charger plate inserts highlighting authors at Toronto Public Library Foundation's Biblio Bash.
Smirnoff and Funboy Launch Event

To coincide with the brand’s new “Four Ways to Rosé” four-pack, Smirnoff Seltzer partnered with luxe pool float company Funboy to debut an inflatable for consumers. The hydroplane float features a colorful, Instagram-friendly design created by muralist Jason Woodside. Smirnoff held a private launch event earlier this month at Andaz West Hollywood, displaying the floats at the hotel’s rooftop pool and balloon installations that complemented the float’s color scheme. MKTG designed the event and Balloon Monster provided the balloon decor.

Budweiser Draught Lottery

To coincide with the N.B.A. Draft Lottery on May 14, Budweiser launched its own lottery that gave New Yorkers a 14 percent chance to win free beer—the same odds as the Knicks had to win the number one N.B.A. pick. The brand brought five custom fabricated lottery machines to bars in Manhattan. The idea was conceived by 3 PM—the agency for Anheuser-Busch by Weber Shandwick and PMK-BNC—and the machines were built by Fusion.

Each table at the event was hosted by a notable author and featured customized charger plate inserts that displayed information about the authors. Candice & Alison Events Group designed the event, which had a yellow color scheme. The black-tie event raised more than $745,000 for the public library system.

SAP’s Sapphire Now

SAP’S Sapphire Now and ASUG Annual Conference took place May 7 to 9 at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando. At a high-tech equipped basketball court, participants shot baskets from a variety of angles, encouraged and coached by a comedian dressed as a referee. After 45 seconds, SAP-driven technology provided stats on the player’s abilities and compared them to those of N.B.A. players.
