Ava 500 is a Web conferencing system mounted on a robotic base. It combines iRobot’s autonomous navigation capabilities with Cisco’s TelePresence, so users can participate in Web conferences without needing to be in a fixed position. The system can be used to take an online conversation outside, onto an assembly floor, or into a laboratory. The host controls it with an iPad, and it automatically returns to its charging station when the meeting is finished. The iRobot Ava will be available early next year.

A surprise performance came from the iLuminate Dance Troupe, which ended with Alienware C.M.O. Neil Hand emerging from the dark in a lit-up LED suit to address the crowd. Neil then introduced and unveiled Alienware’s three new gaming laptops. Following his speech, guests were granted access, according to their colored badges, to the Alienware “chamber” to test out the three new pieces of hardware. At the end of the evening, three raffle winners took home one of the three new Alienware laptops.

More than 80,000 people traveled to a remote 700-acre farm in Tennessee June 7 to 10 for the Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival. Knowing the attendees would be outside day and night listening music on multiple stages, brands such as Garnier Fructis provided practical services such as free hair-washing and styling in a 40- by 40-foot air-conditioned tent.
