Here's an idea for a thematic viewing area: In 2012, the N.F.L. threw its first fan-focused Super Bowl party in Canada. Sponsored by Bud Light, Toronto’s party took over Sound Academy. On an Astroturf carpet marked with yard lines, tall stools and tables made up the main seating area. A retractable screen was lowered over the stage while the game was on.

Consider tying athletic decor—such as football cleats—into event decor. For example, at the 2012 Hudson River Park gala in New York, Matthew David Hopkins of 360 Design Events created centerpieces that incorporated running shoes and bicycle wheels.

Helmets can also serve as decorative accents. Tables at the premiere of football player Ernie Davis’s 2008 biopic, The Express, featured centerpieces with pom-poms, helmets, and pennants.

Or, look for a tablecloth that reflects a football theme. At Diffa’s Dining by Design in Chicago in 2013, an elegant tailgate party inspired the vignette from Sparc Inc., designed by Richard Cassis and Hunter Kaiser.

10. Lots of Solo Cups
Solo cups are an often-spotted component of any tailgate party and can also be a fun, inexpensive way to dress up a football-viewing party. Turn the cups into decor by arranging dozens of them inside the spaces of hurricane fencing to spell out game day messages, as David Stark did for a high school graduation party in New Jersey in 2013.

Perrier 150th Anniversary

On September 4, Nestlé Waters Canada celebrated the 150th anniversary of Perrier with a soiree at Toroto's Soho House. Decor stayed on brand with flowers tucked into Perrier bottles instead of traditional vases. The event also introduced the sparkling water's new limited-edition bottles, which have bright labels inspired by the work of Andy Warhol.

N.F.L. 2013 Season Kickoff Party and Concert

The National Football League kicked off its season Thursday night in Baltimore with a free concert from country star Keith Urban and a V.I.P party where guests could watch the show and stay for the broadcast of the football game. The Ravens logo decorated a bar at the Maryland Science Center, while helmets and branded footballs added detail to the back wall.

Vogue Eyewear's Los Angeles launch party for its campaign with Eva Mendes in 2013 had a playful feel throughout. A step-and-repeat wall made up of logo balloons arranged in a rainbow grid set the sunny, colorful tone for the alfresco affair.

At Christie's “Green Auction: Bid to Save the Earth” in New York in 2012, the arrivals area was dominated by a wall of live plants. Many of the flowers used—including phalaenopsis, clovers, cabbage, ferns, and ivy—were replanted following the event.

The "summer" section also had a tiki bar doling out "Puka Punch." Guests sipped fruity, rum-based cocktails in an area decked with miniature palm trees, umbrellas, lounge furniture, and Astroturf.

Caravents this year produced the Vanity Fair Social Club program, which had a new twist on a photo booth: An activation by sponsor Viktor & Rolf took the form of a floral bed, with a camera positioned above.

Flor at Pitchfork Music Festival

Who knew carpet samples could come in handy at a music festival? Chicago-based carpet company Flor handed out some 5,000 squares of carpet so that guests could make their own carpeted seating areas on the grass. When the weather turned stormy on Saturday, guests used the carpets to cover muddy spots on festival grounds.
