At Diffa's Dining by Design in New York, Ralph Lauren went with a cozy, ski chalet-inspired look. Centerpieces of snowberries and wrought-iron lanterns created a runner down the center of the rustic wood table. Other striking details included a faux fireplace, Pendleton-inspired bench cushions, and an antler chandelier.

Greater Fort Lauderdale Convention & Visitors Bureau's 'Love Is Love' Destination Wedding

To celebrate marriage equality in Florida, the Greater Fort Lauderdale Convention & Visitors Bureau hosted a massive "Love Is Love" destination wedding at the W Fort Lauderdale on February 5. Several couples were married in a group wedding at the event, and the ceremony setup included beach balls under each chair. At the conclusion of the reception, guests triumphantly tossed the pink-and-green balls into the air.

The first course from Occasions Caterers was served on clear dishes with moss, flowers, and pine needles nestled in between the bowl and the plate, reinforcing the dining room's forest-like decor. The flatware resembled twigs.

The Special Olympics Canda's Motionball

The ballroom at Toronto's Liberty Grand Entertainment Complex was packed with a crowd of 2,500 guests for Special Olympics Canada's sold-out Motionball gala on February 6. For the event's 14th year, the planning committee decided on a “Glitz and Graffiti” theme. As guests entered into the Governors Ballroom, a red carpet and structures laden with strands of crystals formed a Hollywood-style entrance.

Thakoon Fall/Winter 2015
Thakoon Fall/Winter 2015

The 390 guests at Thakoon's fall show, held February 15 at Stage37, were greeted by what was described as "a physical manifestation of the Northern Lights." For the Dizon Inc.-produced outing, set designer Jonathon Beck used a new 3M material called Dichroic glass film that, when placed in specific angles, revealed a stunning reflection of the entire color spectrum of light. The abstract light refractions juxtaposed strikingly against an otherwise all-black venue, providing extra impact for the designer's collection.

There was so much fabulous food at the James Beard Chefs & Champagne event, which was chaired by Bobby Flay—on hand with his beautiful wife, Stephanie March (they live in my building and both are so nice)—I couldn’t even begin to mention them all. But Rotisserie Georgette chef Chad Brauze was on hand serving foie gras with quail and apricot. It was a little pillow of heaven. This display was the Sea Grill chef Yuhi Fujinaga’s inventive medium for plates. It was always empty because his sepia carbonara with poached quail egg and jamón crisps were divine! Correction: The original version of this story incorrectly identified the chef responsible for the display.
