



A room with heavy draping by Revelry showcased a lace-topped table, which also served as Instagram bait for the social media-minded guests. Social media prompts on the floor encouraged and guided their posts.

This year's Governors Ball drew inspiration from cinematic history, with 3,000 photos from the academy’s archives used as decor. Cheryl Cecchetto and Sequoia Productions designed and produced the event, which was held at the Ray Dolby Ballroom at Hollywood & Highland on February 22.


The museum hosted a gala celebrating the surrealist artist Magritte in June. A cocktail reception was held in the museum's garden. HMR Designs brought in a round central bar with a huge centerpiece of bowler hats, which paid tribute to the Belgian artist.


The Revel Group in Chicago hosted "Revel Provocateur," a dinner for the area's top event planners, on March 30 at Revel Downtown. Decked in black hues and Gothic-style decor, the event eschewed seating cards and instead printed guests' names on the back of chairs.



Janina O’Leary, executive pastry chef at LaV Restaurant & Wine Bar in Austin, Texas, created a "Wonderland" theme dessert table for Austin Food & Wine Festival's "Sips and Sweets" event in April. Hanging over the sweets table was a marshmallow chandelier of forks holding marshmallows. Staffers cut down individual marshmallows for guests, who put them into chocolate teacups filled with homemade rhubarb jam.





The Ritz-Carlton Spa in Los Angeles is available for full-day buyouts. The venue can hold 20 guests a time and typically offers 25-minute services during private events. The spa can also offer healthy lunches, meditation, and a physical activity such as yoga.




The overall look and feel this year was a modern, graphic approach, with a bold marine blue, gold, black, and white palette. Vibrant flowers topped tables in the dining room as well as in adjoining cocktail space.





LeSportsac hosted a media event for a group of editors for the launch of its new bag collection on April 7 at the Glasshouses in New York. Designed by Tinsel & Twine, the event featured a silver, white, and blue balloon canopy installation that was reflected on a mirrored-top table.

First launched for the 2012 Olympics in London, Omega's exclusive members-only club returned for Rio 2016. Omega's activation was housed at the Casa de Cultura Laura Alvim on Ipanema Beach, with each individual room paying homage to the Olympics. The main area for guests to mingle was the patio, which featured a white-on-white scheme reminiscent of luxury destinations like Miami, Ibiza, and Mykonos. The white was offset by black-and-white photos highlighting the brand's history of timekeeping.
