Design Industries Foundation Fighting AIDS hosted Dining by Design at Chicago's Merchandise Mart November 4 and 5. Installations included a setup from Herman Miller Geiger Furniture by Gensler that was loosely inspired by a hospital waiting room. Syringes and small red toys were found on trays next to the wooden seats, and a ceiling of white balloons hung overhead.

In addition to the traditional bar setups, large vitrines featured images from the Balmain for H&M campaign. Again, the visuals were in keeping with the subterranean vibe of the event and modeled after advertising found throughout mass transit walkways.

Oracle's OpenWorld Conference took place at the Moscone Center in San Francisco October 25 to 29. Mosaic and Invisible Light Network's "Voice of Data" installation let guest create a new kind of wearable data: By sharing a personal statement into a microphone, guests created an algorithm that was translated into a design, which was laser-cut into branded leather bracelets. Some guests left their bracelets behind to display them in the "Future Meets Fashion" gallery.

Guests could call friends and family members in a "calling pod," outfitted with a plush seating area and a phone.
