
C2’s outdoor plaza, located alongside Montréal’s Lachine Canal, included a Ferris wheel, a tent, food services, and seating areas. During the day, organizers encouraged attendees to meet for “brain dates” in one of the Ferris wheel pods, and at night the plaza was the hub of entertainment.

In what organizers called the “Cloud of Fog,” participants stepped inside a 40-foot-diameter igloo filled with fog so they could not see one another. As a moderator in the middle lead the discussion, participants were instructed to gradually walk toward the center, so by the end they could see one another.

To force attendees out of their comfort zones, organizers invited them to participate in discussions while suspended 18 feet in the air.

Using E-180’s matchmaking platform, more than 1,350 “brain dates” took place during the conference, double the amount from 2014.
