The Treasure Island Music Festival took place October 17 and 18 in San Francisco. While performers like FKA Twigs were highlights, the event also had a number of unusual installations, including a pay phone where guests could "talk to God."

La Mer 'Celebration of an Icon' Event

Skin cream brand La Mer celebrated its 50th anniversary October 13 at Siren Studios in Los Angeles. Co-hosted by Estée Lauder Companies Inc., the event had a an under the sea theme and featured the world's largest Crème de la Mer jar. Inside the jar, a 360-degree screen showed The Dr. Max Huber Story, a short film about the brand's founder.

Captain Morgan Cannon Blast Bar Crawl

Captain Morgan hosted its inaugural Cannon Blast Bar Crawl on October 17 in downtown Orlando. The event launched the rum brand's newest shot, the Captain Morgan Cannon Blast, while professional "human cannonball" Brian Miser performed multiple blasts from different cannons during the crawl.

The AOL Future Front kicked off Advertising Week on September 28 at Pier 36/Basketball City in New York. To enter the venue, guests stepped through the Theatrical Immersion Tunnel, which was designed to get them excited for the main event. Constructed with three walls of nine-millimeter LED screens, the tunnel held 75 people at a time and projected voice-overs, sounds, music, and a variety of imagery inspired by the event's mobile theme. Each presentation would end with a high-energy 20-second finale.

Visitors to the Phillips Collection’s exhibit “Gauguin to Picasso: Masterworks From Switzerland” can turn their selfies into virtual masterpieces using a new app from Switzerland-based Appamics. Guests take a selfie in the app, and then as they approach one of four paintings that are connected to iBeacons, the app animates their selfie into the style of that artist.

The sixth annual Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic took place October 17 at the Will Rogers State Historic Park in the Pacific Palisades area of Los Angeles. A sign on the hills above the event mimicked the iconic Hollywood sign.

The second annual nighttime arts festival Illuminus took place at Boston's Fenway Park on October 10, once again transforming the iconic venue into a colorful musical instrument. Percussionists played the steel girders of the structure for a musical performance.

The eighth annual New York City Wine & Food Festival took place October 15 to 18 at various venues across the city, with larger events at the main culinary campus at Piers 92 and 94 in Midtown. At Coca-Cola's activation, attendees were able to print and mail a sharable postcard by using the hashtag #CocaColaNYC. Mini Coca-Cola-flavored cupcakes with buttercream frosting were up for grabs as well. The company also created mocktails at the Grand Tasting and handed out Coca-Cola Life samples during Pier 92 rooftop events.

Plated, a meal delivery service, was a new vendor at this year's festival. Its activation consisted of an Airstream trailer with cooking demos and a “guess the spices” giveaway during the Grand Tasting.

Mashable Lounge
Mashable Lounge

At the Association of National Advertisers Masters of Marketing Conference, which ended Saturday at the Orlando World Center Marriott, Mashable created an invite-only lounge open from 11:30 p.m. to 2 a.m. Organizers stocked each booth at the party with spirits, mixers, glasses, and ice so guests could create their own cocktails.

The event's focal installation was a three-story DJ tower that housed five DJs in cubes playing hip-hop, electronic, Top 40, rock, and throwback. Built with scaffolding, the tower featured shifting light, music, and video styles and allowed DJs to play solo sets, participate in music battles, and combine genres. Four of the squares projected video that showed social feeds, DJ information, and live shots of the DJs performing.
