Easter

Paula Biggs, creative director and stylist at Frog Prince Paperie, has hosted Easter events that lets guests design their own eggs using confetti-shaped papier-mâché. The activity requires basic materials such as water balloons, newspaper, and glue; Biggs offered a step-by-step tutorial on her website.

For another kid-friendly Easter activity, Biggs suggests letting guests plant marshmallow "carrots" into cupcakes. They can also top the desserts off with sprinkled Oreo crumbs, making the desserts look like miniature carrot patches.

An Extreme Egg Hunt
An Extreme Egg Hunt
For a slightly scarier animal encounter, the "Full Bunny Contact Extreme Egg Hunt for Adults" takes place in New York March 23 to 27 at the Clemente. A blend between a cage match and an Easter egg hunt, the event places participants in a cage, where they have 60 seconds to collect as many eggs as they can while three large costumed bunnies try to block them.

For takeaway Easter treats, Chicago-based designer Christine Janda tucks seasonal candies into pastel takeout boxes decked with bright ribbons. For added shine, she also decorates tabletops with candles in metallic vessels.

Janda also leads seasonal workshops on flower-crown making. She recently partnered with beauty, fashion, and lifestyle site Glossed & Found to lead a workshop at Yoga Six in Chicago and brought in flowers and decorations that guests wrapped around a wire base.

For Easter and the Cherry Blossom Festival, Italian restaurant Centrolina in Washington is showcasing a giant chocolate cherry-blossom-theme egg through March 27. Chef and owner Amy Brandwein and pastry chef Jennifer Costa made the 3-foot, 30-pound egg, which is available for purchase in smaller versions.
