Watermill Center Summer Benefit

On July 28, some 1,200 guests headed out to the Watermill Center in the Hamptons for the art organization’s annual benefit, one of the season’s biggest draws for philanthropists. Inside the dinner tent a chandelier positioned over the dance floor was made up of plastic recycling bags and pink fabric streamers.

For the fourth annual Sweetlife festival, hosted by Washington eatery Sweetgreen at Merriweather Post Pavilion, the V.I.P. area’s DJ booth was outfitted with hundreds of bright orange traffic cones.

Riffing off the trend of plastic ball pits at events, the experience had a tennis ball pit that served as a popular photo op for guests. Kim-Smith explained her team intentionally didn’t include a photo booth, but wanted to provide attendees with Instagrammable moments.

Rentals came from Theoni Collection and Premiere Party Rents, while Andrea Davis created hand-painted menus. Luxe Linen’s Amalfi napkins in Coral, Rosa, and Naranja were also on display.

Fruit Punch

The bright table by Nicole Alexandra Designs and Emblem Flowers was designed to resemble a bowl of colorful fruit punch. Emiko Woods created the backdrop design, and Luxe’s Amalfi linen in Rosa was used.

5. The Showroom

For a downtown event requiring a blank canvas, the Showroom is an open, industrial space that can accommodate 800 guests for cocktails or 300 guests seated at rounds. The rental includes security, cleaning in the restrooms during the event, a building engineer, an onsite staff person, and use of a green room. The venue's rooftop is also available at an additional fee and offers views of D.C. icons. It opened last fall.

Camilla Fayed’s Farmacy Kitchen Cookbook was inspired by her two-year-old vegan restaurant in London. (A Los Angeles location is slated to open in 2019.) For the launch party, copies of the book were displayed next to on-theme artichokes, radishes, and other veggies.
