Wrapped with brand images and taglines, the "greenhouse on wheels" was the central component of Ion Television's marketing efforts. The glass-walled truck traveled to eight ad agencies—from Universal McCann's Midtown office to Zenith's building on West Houston.

Boxes of plants filled the inside of Ion's truck. The flora was used to symbolize the network's rapid growth over the past year.

Visitors to the truck, roughly 100 agency representatives from each of the eight stops, received bamboo plants, one of the world's fastest-growing plants.

On October 13, Ion erected a rock climbing wall, which it used for a contest. The television network sponsored 20 students from Simon Baruch Middle School 104 for the competition and partnered with WPLJ FM for a second, consumer-focused match.

For each student that reached the top of the wall, Ion donated $500 toward the school's physical education department, a sum that in the end totaled $10,000.

To celebrate its successful year, Ion gathered clients for a "thank you" party last Thursday. Stephen Appel, Ion Media Network's president of sales and marketing, was on hand to welcome more than 400 guests to the event.

Thursday night's event also took over the Midtown venue's rooftop, which was furnished with heat lamps for the slightly chilly weather.

As an interactive element to the client event, the organizers brought in a digital graffiti wall that allowed guests to virtually tag a branded structure.
