Moscone Center, San Francisco

Work has been underway for more than a year at the Moscone Center in San Francisco. When the $500 million project is completed in late 2018, the venue will have more than 305,000 square feet of new space, including a new 50,000-square-foot column-free ballroom and more than 80 meeting rooms. The project is creating more than 500,000 square feet of contiguous space for exhibitions and meetings. There will also be more than 20,000 square feet of secure outdoor terraces suitable for receptions and more than 100,000 square feet of prefunction lobbies with views of the city and the surrounding Yerba Buena Gardens.

Miami Beach Convention Center

The Miami Beach Convention Center is undergoing a $515 million renovation and expansion that is scheduled to be finished in 2018. When complete, the building will encompass 1.4 million square feet and include a 60,000-square-foot grand ballroom, additional meetings rooms, a 20,000-square-foot glass rooftop junior ballroom, updated technology, and new indoor and outdoor public spaces. In addition, 800 parking spaces currently located across the street from the center will be relocated within the footprint of the building and the parking area will be converted into a nearly six-acre public park.

McCormick Place Event Center, Chicago

The McCormick Place Event Center will be a 10,000-seat, multi-purpose facility on Chicago’s McCormick Place campus. The 300,000-square-foot venue will have the capacity to host general sessions for conventions and trade shows, as well as concerts, sporting events, and more. It will also be the new home court for DePaul University's women's and men's basketball teams.

Jacob K. Javits Convention Center, New York

A $1 billion redevelopment project is set to begin by the end of 2016 at the Javits Center in New York. The construction will add 1.2 million square feet to the venue, creating 500,000 square feet of contiguous space on one level. There will also be a new 58,000-square-foot ballroom and a rooftop terrace and pavilion that will accommodate 1,500 people.

Anaheim Convention Center

The Anaheim Convention Center in California is in the midst of an expansion project that will add 200,000 square feet of flexible space, bringing the venue’s total exhibition space to more than one million square feet. The project will also replace a parking structure, create new loading docks, and improve the vehicle entrance. It’s scheduled to be completed in fall 2017.

Greater Columbus Convention Center

The Greater Columbus Convention Center in Ohio is in the midst of a $125 million renovation and expansion that is slated to be completed in July 2017. The updated facility will be 1.8 million square feet, which will include nearly 37,000 square feet of new exhibit space that will bring total contiguous space to 373,000 square feet. The number of meeting rooms in the facility will increase to 74 with the addition of a two-level meeting space with 10 news rooms with outside windows. Two large ballrooms have also been renovated with new finishes, sound systems, lighting, and way-finding technology. The venue also as a new eight-story parking garage with 800 spaces.

Washington State Convention Center, Seattle

The Washington State Convention Center in Seattle is set to break ground on a $1.4 billion addition in 2017. The project will consist of a new building located about a block from the existing venue. It will add about 250,000 square feet of exhibition space, 125,000 square feet of meeting rooms, and 60,000 square feet of ballroom space.

Las Vegas Convention Center

The Nevada Legislature will soon consider a $1.4 billion expansion and renovation of the Las Vegas Convention Center. The project would add a total of 1.4 million square feet to the venue, including 600,000 square feet of new exhibit space and meeting rooms, prefunction space, service, and support areas. The project also calls for renovation of the existing 3.2 million square foot facility.

Henry B. González Convention Center, San Antonio

In January, San Antonio’s Henry B. González Convention Center unveiled a $325 million expansion. The facility is now 1.6 million square feet with 514,000 square feet of contiguous exhibit space. There are 70 meetings room and a 54,000-square-foot ballroom. The project also updated way-finding and accessibility throughout the venue. The original structure, built in 1968, is now being demolished to create room for the expansion of neighboring Hemisfair Park.
