Offering event guests some gratis on-site pampering is nothing new, but this year it seemed that the hair-styling station replaced the ubiquitous manicure station. From braid bars to scalp massages, here's a look at some recent happenings that had guests leaving their locks in the hands of professional hair stylists.

In March, Gayle Giacomo, star of the Style Network’s Jerseylicious, launched her volumizing hair-care line at an event in TriBeCa. Styling stations gave attendees the opportunity to test out the new line, getting their hair volumized by staffers.

At Travel & Leisure’s second annual Global Bazaar in September, Hilton’s interactive booth included a hair-braiding station designed to represent the types of activities available at the hotelier’s Barbados properties.

During lifestyle Web site Thrillist’s third annual Hotel Thrillist experience in Chicago in July, Axe Hair set up a hairstyling station for men at the opening-night party. Four stylists were on hand to offer services using Axe products. The next day at the event's “Beachside Bash” Axe Hair professionals doled out scalp massages.

Garnier Fructis provided complimentary hair-washing and styling for attendees at the Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival in June. Inside an air-conditioned tent, TV monitors mounted above the styling chairs looped Garnier Fructis content for guests' entertainment as they got their hair styled by professionals.
