This year marks the 73rd edition of the Alfred E. Smith Memorial Foundation Dinner, which pokes fun at politics while raising money to support New York’s neediest children. Last year’s dinner, held at the New York Hilton Midtown, featured a keynote address by House Speaker Paul Ryan. Both Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump appeared at the event in 2016, joining past speakers like John F. Kennedy, Winston Churchill, Ronald Reagan, and Barack Obama. Next: October 18, 2018

Political parody abounds at the Inner Circle Show, a fund-raiser hosted by the New York Press Corps to benefit New York City-based charities. The 2018 show, entitled “Curb Your Narcissism” marks the event’s 96th year and will include an appearance by Mayor Bill de Blasio and high-profile surprise guests. Next: April 21, 2018

Returning to the David H. Koch Theater at Lincoln Center, Tina Brown’s Women in the World Summit, presented and co-hosted by Toyota, brings together powerful female role models to share their personal stories. Last year’s event included appearances from Hillary Clinton, Scarlett Johansson, and Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. About 7,500 people attend the event over three days. Next: April 12-14, 2018
